Outdoor Living Due to Covid ~

Greetings! My name is Teryl Ciarlo and I am the designer and owner of Teryl Designs Landscaping in Los Angeles, California. I am excited to be contributing ideas on how to create clean fresh looks of classic grace and balanced designs of symmetry for a stylish outdoor setting. To help you LIVE LIKE YOU, I will be sharing my design process on how to absorb a home’s existing tone, and reflect its flow outdoors as an extension of the interior and create an outdoor space perfect for entertaining and everyday living. As we continue to live in a new norm of more time at home, now more than ever is the time to create an oasis steps from your own front or back door.

Set up outdoor sitting areas with strings of lights and hanging lanterns to give a “magical” feel. Boxwood and Pittasporum globes bring a whimsical symmetry to any garden.

Use trees to create a restorative place to sit in the shade to sip tea, read a book or meditate.

While entertaining take seasonal cues form nature. Depending on the season, I will use sunflowers, fresh veggies form my garden or citrus from my trees.

Al Fresco dining is a must. Placing a rustic dining table in the garden can immediately transport you and your guests to a “vacation feel” while dining and toasting with your favorite drink.

My husband and I both love blue and white so we chose that color palette for our home design. I have woven those colors into my outdoor space and entertaining to create an extension of my home to my garden.

Use every corner of your home to create areas that are visually interesting. Eden Climbing Roses and round Boxwood globes create instant charm.

Farm to table herbs and vegetables can be grown using raised garden beds. I am passionate about organic gardening using only ecofriendly sources and techniques.
